As part of our ongoing operations in Ghana, we are seeking a qualified and experienced SURVEYOR to join our underground operations team.

Role Summary: The Surveyor will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate 3D maps of mine workings, using advanced tech like total stations & CAD for precise data, directs development and production drilling/blasting, calculates ore volumes, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting engineers by integrating survey data into mine planning for efficient extraction and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys of underground tunnels, developing and maintaining up-to-date 3D digital models and 2D plans of all mine workings, including all excavations, ventilation systems and emergency egress routes.
  • Calculating volumes and tonnages of mined material (ore and waste) for inventory management and contractual payment verification.
  • Verifying that all mining activities remain within legal lease boundaries.
  • Calibrating and maintaining advanced surveying tools such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and laser scanners. 
  • Setting out precise points for drilling, blasting, and excavation; transferring surface control to underground areas.
  • Calculating ore reserves, muck pile volumes, and material tonnages for production and financial reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate records, preparing technical reports, and communicating findings to stakeholders. 

Requirements:

  •  A bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or Mining Engineering is required.
  • Expertise in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Deswik, Maptek, or Surpac) and hardware (e.g., Leica Total Stations, LiDAR scanners, and underground drones).
  • Strong advanced mathematical and numerical skills for complex spatial calculations.
  • Proven experience in underground hard rock mining surveys.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment (Total Stations, GPS) and software (CAD, GIS, mine planning software).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and teamwork. 
  • Accurately marking up level designs, drill patterns, and blast holes to ensure tunnelling follows planned engineering specifications.
  • Professional licensure or a Mine Surveyor’s Certificate is often mandatory depending on the jurisdiction.
  •  Ability to work in dark, cramped, and physically demanding underground environments, often involving long periods of standing or walking.
