As part of our ongoing operations in Ghana, we are seeking a qualified and experienced MINE CAPTAIN to join our underground operations team.

Role Summary: The Mine Captain will be responsible for leading daily operations, ensuring safety, productivity, and compliance by supervising miners through shift bosses, coordinating with mine planning engineers, geologists, maintenance, enforcing protocols, managing resources, and acting as the crucial link between management and the workforce to execute production plans. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate underground mining operations across assigned areas
• Ensure work is carried out in accordance with mine plans, schedules, and procedures
• Implement & enforce all safety regulations, conduct site inspections, lead emergency response, and ensure adherence to mining laws.
• Oversee daily production (drilling, blasting, loading, hauling), manage shift activities, and maintain equipment efficiency
• Lead, mentor, and manage underground crews to achieve production targets
• Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment utilization and operational performance.
• Coordinate with mine planning engineering, geology, ventilation, and maintenance departments.
• Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure accurate reporting of production, safety, and operational metrics.

Requirements:

• Extensive mining experience in underground operations.
• Valid Mine Captain Certificate of Competency
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in underground mining operations
• Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering
• Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, safety systems, and regulations
• Proven leadership, supervisory, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple work areas and teams under pressure.
