Project Manager

Our core services include raise boring, vertical and lateral underground development, contract mining, and shaft sinking. As part of our ongoing operations in Ghana, we are seeking a qualified and experienced PROJECT MANAGER to join our underground operations team.
Role Summary: The Project Manager will be responsible for leading an underground mining operational project. This include lateral, inclined, and vertical development, old workings rehabilitation, and ore and waste transport—ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget, all while driving profitability and aligning with company strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and budgets. Ensure optimum mine design and technical solutions for underground operations
- Supervising multidisciplinary teams (engineers, geologists, and sub-contractors) and manage relationships with the client representatives and vendors.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to track milestones and risks.
- Managing projects budgets, including cost forecasting, expenditure tracking, and procurement of equipment, consumables, and materials.
- Enforcing strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and ensuring all activities comply with local mining regulations.
- Overseeing critical infrastructure (ventilation, power, water), selecting equipment, optimize designs, and ensuring technical quality.
- Proactively identifying geological, geotechnical, technical, and financial risks, developing mitigation strategies to minimize project delays.
- Provide strong leadership to project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Ensure workforce mining skills training and training in underground safety protocols.
- Serving as the primary contact for company leadership, and client’s representatives, providing regular progress and performance reports.
- Must comply with statutory frameworks such as the Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety, and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L. I. 2182).
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering/MSc. in mining engineering preferable.
- PMP Certificate (Project Management Professional) or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Between7–15 years of progressive mining experience, with 5+ years in an underground mining large scale project.
- Must have strong technical skills in mine planning, ventilation, and ground control.
- Proficiency in project management software like Primavera P6or MS Project, and familiarity with mine planning softwares.
- Must have Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency; compliance with L.I. 2182.
- Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of the Mining Act 703 as amended.
- Budget management, cost control, and strategic goal alignment.
