As part of our ongoing operations in Ghana, we are seeking a young Accounting Officer to join our underground operations team.

Role Summary

The Accounting Officer will be responsible for managing daily financial records, processing invoices, tracking operational expenses, and preparing financial reports. They will ensure the company’s financial activities follow strict tax and industry laws, working closely with Head of Accounting and Finance to control budgets and support smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping & Ledgers: Manage the day-to-day accounts payable (money you owe vendors) and accounts receivable (money clients owe you). Maintain the general ledger to accurately track all cash coming in and going out.
  • Budget Tracking: Work with department and site managers to monitor expenses, making sure project costs stay within the monthly budget.
  • Invoice & PO Processing: Verify purchase orders and supplier invoices so that all vendor and contractor claims are processed and paid correctly.
  • Month-End Closing: Assist with monthly and yearly financial closing processes, which include bank and account reconciliations (matching your financial records with bank statements to ensure they match perfectly).
  • Audit & Tax Prep: Prepare necessary documents and reports for both internal and external audits.
  • HSE & Compliance: Ensure all tasks comply with company rules, accounting principles, and local tax laws.
  • Consistently adhering to all company, local, national, and statutory safety and environmental regulations. 

Key Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting with ACCA or ICA Part 1 or 2
  • 1 or 2 years’ experience in an accounting or project environment.
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and other accounting regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (Sage).

Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a larger team.
